An acrylic resin applicator is the contractor who prepares the substrate, lays the sport coating system and paints the lines. This is not generic floor painting: it is sports-surface work, with control of mix ratios, drying times and handover against NF P90-110. The Pickleballers applies resin for pickleball and, with the same trade, converts worn tennis courts.

This page is for clubs, municipalities, hotels and sports complexes looking for who applies the resin, not only which product to buy. For the coating itself, see our acrylic pickleball court page. To start a job, use the contact page: technical visit within 48 hours, tel. +33 6 32 22 08 55.

What does an acrylic resin applicator actually do?

Acrylic resin is applied in 3 to 5 successive coats on concrete, asphalt or an old tennis surface: primer, levelling, optional 3 to 5 mm cushion, colour finish, then white polyurethane lines. An experienced applicator controls mix ratios, drying time, minimum slab temperature (often 10 °C), humidity and the 0.8 to 1.2 % slope required for drainage.

The Pickleballers works as a pickleball court builder and as applicator: design, slab prep, coating, USAPA / FFT lining, net, and follow-up after opening. We are also a French pickleball court manufacturer for tile and kit ranges, so “who sells the surface” and “who installs it” stay with one team.

Why a pickleball applicator instead of a generic tennis crew?

Most French applicators come from tennis. They know acrylic. They do not always know pickleball. Three gaps show up on site:

  • Two-tone kitchen: the non-volley zone (7 ft / 2.13 m each side of the net) is a contrasting colour, one undivided block, with no centreline through the kitchen. A “scaled tennis” layout often leaves a centreline through the NVZ: that is a rules error.
  • The service T: the centreline runs only from the kitchen line to the baseline (15 ft), not to the net.
  • Conversion: a 23.77 × 10.97 m tennis court can take 1 to 4 pickleball layouts. The choice is not only paint: you decide repair, tennis resurfacing, or tennis court renovation into pickleball.

For a club aiming at competition, the applicator also needs a competition pickleball court brief (overrun, lighting, 34-inch net at centre) and the optional cushioned pickleball surface. See also pickleball at a tennis club.

How is an acrylic resin installation sequenced?

1. Site visit and substrate diagnosis

We measure flatness, slope, porosity, slab moisture, cracks and joints. Porous concrete or a chalking old tennis resin is not covered with “two magic coats”. Either we repair (levelling, crack bridging), or we plan pickleball court resurfacing, or we switch range (tiles) if the slab cannot be saved inside the budget.

2. Preparation

Cleaning, degreasing, opening cracks, primer. On old tennis, sanding or shot-blasting prevents peel. This step drives about 80 % of service life. An applicator who skips prep to compress the calendar is selling you a recote within 24 months.

3. Acrylic coats

Squeegee application, drying between coats (often 4 to 12 hours depending on weather). Typical programme: 5 to 15 days for one court, excluding heavy civil works. Temperature, rain and dew move the calendar: that is normal, not improvised delay.

4. Lining and handover

50 mm white lines, kitchen, service T, optional club logo. Acceptance: adhesion, flatness, friction, colour. We hand over the job file (resin batches, photos). The pickleball court warranty then frames aftercare.

After coating, the court is not “maintenance free”. A pickleball court maintenance contract and the guide on how to clean a pickleball court add years before the next resurfacing (often 5 to 8 years in club outdoor use).

How to get an application quote

Pricing depends on the substrate (cracks, porosity, old tennis), the cushion option and the lining. Send photos and dimensions via the contact page. For a public tender, we answer the spec (thicknesses, tests, school-holiday programme), with the pickleball court for local government page.

Range and surface benchmarks: see pickleball court pricing and the article on acrylic pickleball court cost. The applicator quote itself is calibrated on your slab.

After installation: maintenance, cleaning, resurfacing

A well-applied resin lasts 10 to 15 years if you clean it, avoid overly powerful pressure washers, solvents and metal blades, and close micro-cracks before they open. Typical calendar:

  • Weekly: blow-off, leaves, gentle rinse.
  • Quarterly / twice a year: professional clean (moss, pollution, salt on the coast).
  • Every 5 to 8 years: resurfacing (new finish coats and reline), cheaper than rebuilding.

The Pickleballers stays the single contact: applicator, then maintenance, then resurfacing. Write to support@thepickleballers-shop.com or call +33 6 32 22 08 55 for a visit.

Acrylic resin applicator FAQ

What is the difference between an acrylic resin applicator and a floor painter? +

The applicator installs a multi-coat sports system, with NF P90-110 slope and pickleball lining. A floor painter does not handle the kitchen or the service T.

Can resin be applied on an existing tennis court? +

Yes, after diagnosis. Hairlines: levelling. Live crack: flexible sealant. Structural crack: we do not coat over it. See our tennis-to-pickleball renovation page.

How long does acrylic pickleball resin take to install? +

5 to 15 days depending on prep and weather, excluding heavy civil works. Rain and cold delay coats: that is normal.

Can resin be applied on a cracked tennis court? +

Sometimes, after diagnosis. Hairlines: levelling. Live crack: flexible sealant. Structural crack: we do not coat over it. See our tennis-to-pickleball renovation page.

Do you work across France? +

Yes, with a technical visit before the quote. Tel. +33 6 32 22 08 55 or the contact page.

Indoor and outdoor? +

Yes. Outdoor: slope and drainage. Indoor: substrate and humidity, sometimes PVC if the slab is not suited to acrylic.
